“War, war never changes,” the iconic line of the Fallout franchise, is what the player is first introduced to in ‘Fallout 4,’ the fifth game in the Fallout series and definitely not the last.

Set in the post-apocalyptic future, the game starts out in a version of 2077, in which the whole world is thrust into nuclear war and your player, “The Sole Survivor,” is placed inside of vault 111 located in Massachusetts. The player is placed inside a cryogenic sleep only to awaken with his son having been kidnapped and his wife recently murdered by the kidnappers; his journey begins with him exiting the vault after 200 years.

The player’s journey takes him all across the nuclear wasteland, commonly known as the “Commonwealth,” allowing interaction with multiple sociopolitical factions struggling for complete control of the wasteland. These factions include the Brotherhood of Steel and The Institute, one of which you will have to side with, or with one of the smaller factions such as the Minutemen or the Railroad.

“Fallout is a great franchise, I haven’t gotten much time to play ‘Fallout 4’  but what time I did have with the game was, I’m not gonna lie, pretty great,” sophomore Thomas Mikel said.

Long time followers of the franchise and newcomers alike will both find themselves immersed in the massive open world of Fallout and hopefully you will too.
