Embodying Christmas spirit, the Class of 2025 held their festive Senior Treat Day on Dec. 11, rewarding Cavaliers with ice cream. As the umbrella patio was transformed into a winter wonderland, seniors enjoyed an array of ice cream flavors and toppings to the tune of holiday music. Surrounded by elf ears and Santa hats, seniors relished in their shared milestone.
The Class of 2025 board and its president, Tiffany Beh, planned the event and organized student activities members into their respective roles. Ms. Camacho and D’Alemberte covered the scene in the hues of the holidays, along with large blowups and decorations that completed the Christmas theme.
“Because I’m the president of the board, that makes me responsible for planning senior treat days, including this one. We were planning this for a few weeks but ran into a few problems when factoring in the sun. We didn’t want the ice cream to melt, so brainstormed and found a way to move the tables under more shade,” senior Tiffany Beh said.
To start, a new 10-foot tall Yeti, complete with a moving jaw and monster roar, created a unique background for lighthearted pictures. Decorative trees covered in snow surrounded the Christmas photo booth, decorated with red and green balloons, candy canes and a Christmas backdrop. Fake-snow machines covered the entrance and photo booth in showers of white snowflakes, adding to the winter atmosphere. Lastly, large nut-cracker and Santa Clause statues lined the patio, complementing the Christmas look.
“This year we were going for a Winter Wonderland theme, so we bought a new abominable snowman animatronic along with some other new decorations. Ms. D’alemberte and I added the artificial, snow capped trees that really transformed the patio. It wouldn’t be a treat day without music, so we had two speakers playing Christmas music non-stop,” Ms. Camacho said.
Before entering the event, seniors checked in at the blow-up sign in desk, where they showed their student ID and received their bowl. Eager to indulge in the frozen treat, seniors rushed to the patio to finally receive their ice cream. As seniors entered through the sprinkling snow, they decided on their ice cream flavor of choice. On one table was vanilla and chocolate and on the other, the most popular flavor, cookies and cream.
“The sophomore board was responsible with the set-up of the event, so we worked closely with Tiffany and Ms. Camacho. They did a great job attracting students and creating an exciting ambiance. Considering the success of the event, I am definitely going to incorporate similar elements to the sophomore treat days,” sophomore Carolina Sesin said.
Volunteers scooped from hefty, gallon-sized ice cream tubs as they served their peers. Once Cavaliers acquired their treat, they moved on to the toppings tables. Student activities members dispensed marshmallows, Oreo crumbs and, to fit the theme, green and red M&Ms and sprinkles. To complete the dessert, seniors chose between hot fudge or caramel syrup to drizzle on their personalized bowl of ice cream.
“I came to treat day even though I have to make weight for wrestling. I couldn’t resist chocolate ice cream with marshmallows on top. The atmosphere here is really great with the music and snow everywhere. I can’t wait for next treat day,” senior Ziad Kamal said.
As seniors savored their ice cream, they appreciated the commitment Gables has to the class of 2025. Through treat days and exclusive events, Gables acknowledges the unique contributions of their senior students while rewarding them for their hard work.
