In this video, intensive learning teacher Ms. Linares and Principal Balboa share what it means to be in the bottom 25% of students. Ms. Linares works one on one with students with low performances to try and help them improve while Balboa focuses on Coral Gables Senior High and what programs can be implemented to help these students.
How Gables Invests In The Bottom 25%
Luke Savage is a junior at Coral Gables Senior High and currently serves as the Opinion Editor for CavsConnect. He approaches academics with focus and discipline, striving to maintain a strong grade point average while balancing his editorial responsibilities. His professionalism and ability to craft engaging, well-researched articles earned him the role of News Editor sophomore year and now Opinion Editor, where he continues to refine his voice as a writer and mentor to others.
With aspirations of becoming Editor-in-Chief, Luke is committed to the growth of CavsConnect. Whether coordinating with staff, managing deadlines or providing thoughtful feedback, he prioritizes collaboration and leadership to strengthen both the publication and the team behind it.
Isabella “Isa” Sanhueza is a sophomore at Coral Gables Senior High in the International Baccalaureate Program. She is a first-year staff writer for CavsConnect. She is very eager to explore her opportunities being in the publication, as well as expanding her skills and exploring her interest in photography and writing. Outside of school, Isabella enjoys spending time with her friends, reading books and listening to music. She has a strong passion for music and singing and spends most her time after school at rehearsal because she is the vice president of Gables’ Cavalier singers Choir, and is also in her own rock band. Her tastes in music can range from classical music to alternative. She speaks English, Spanish and is in intermediate Italian. She hopes to earn the position of Opinion or Features Editor with more experience and hard work being a staff writer for CavsConnect. Isabella’s goal is to maintain a high Grade Point Average while balancing her schoolwork and her extracurricular activities.
