Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner now hold official government positions as part of the Trump Administration.

The Trump Administration has two new millionaires to add to its ever-growing collection.  A fashion designer and real estate investor have made it from the Manhattan social scene to the West Wing, and appear to have a greater role in American politics than the Vice President of the United States. Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s daughter, and son-in-law, have all weaseled their way into some of the most coveted government positions. Both now have the ability to greatly influence politics, despite never having worked a day in government before.

“The way in which Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner so easily gained power, especially with no experience, makes me worry about how the Trump Administration is running the government,” said junior Audrey Aragón

Prior to her father’s swearing in, Ivanka Trump stated in an interview that she would not be taking over the First Lady’s duties, and would in fact, simply “be a daughter”.  Contrary to this statement, a few weeks later, Ivanka began accompanying her father to meetings with foreign officials and even stood in for him at events. Despite having no official position Ivanka Trump has been granted an office in the West Wing, alongside her father. She will become an unpaid federal employee with the official title of “assistant to the president”. Ivanka has attended conferences regarding this issue and was invited by Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany, to a female empowerment meeting in Berlin.  This invitation came following her father’s humiliation of the German leader.

Meanwhile, Jared Kushner will serve as the “senior adviser to the president” and will oversee a new office called: the White House Office of American Administration, whose aim is to ensure the federal government is run like a business. Kushner believes that the United States, “should have some excellence in government” and that it “should be run like a great American company”. With this new position, he will wield tremendous influence over American politics and facilitates the furthering of his and President Trump’s vision for the future of the government.
