Cavalier Swimming Conquers the Cobras

On Wednesday, Sep. 28, the Cavalier swim team took on the South Miami Cobras and came out successful, leaving a score of 118-35 for the men’s team and 116-37 for the women’s team.

“This win was a great way to see how far we have come. Throughout the past couple seasons we have lost many fast swimmers and this year we have a lot of rookie swimmers. As one of the captains I knew I had to rally everyone to step it up and help the rookies and this meet was a great example of all our work and improvement,” senior and co-captain Meagan Lee said.

The meet started out with the Cavaliers dominating the medley relays and continuing to maintain their performances throughout the whole meet. The Cavaliers took first place in almost every event with the exception of the women’s 50-yard freestyle and the men’s 100-yard freestyle. Key performances came from many of the rookie swimmers, including Jesse Zambrano, Sofia Salvatore, Eliza Beltran and Nicholas Ralph. The team is excited for what the rest of the season has in store.

“This season has been going really well. We have been working hard towards our goal to bring home our fourth consecutive district title for the women’s team and hopefully place top three for the men’s team,” coach Gerry Couzo said.

Make sure to come out and support the team at their next meet as they glide past the competition.
