Junior Kristina Sodamin is the new girl at Gables once again. After attending her ninth grade year at Gables, she moved to Arendal, Norway. Now she’s back and excited for this school year!

Q: When and why did you move to Norway?

A: I moved to Norway in the beginning of tenth grade. My mom generally wanted to go there because of family reasons and other purposes and she thought it would be a great experience for me to see a different culture and a different perspective.

Q: How long did you live in Norway?

A: I lived there for a year.

Q: How was the transition to Norway?

A: It was actually relatively smooth considering I already knew the language and I have family living there. So, it went very smoothly.

Q: How does Gables compare to the school you attended in Norway?

A:  They were actually very different in many ways, being that the school I attended in Norway was a lot smaller compared to the one here. Whereas a tenth grade class was actually only 23 kids and a tenth grade class is obviously a lot more than 23 kids in Gables.

Q: What was your favorite or least favorite thing about moving?

A:  My least favorite was probably leaving all of my friends and having to go into a completely different environment I’m not used to. My favorite thing was probably seeing the different cultures and the nature that is out in Norway.

Q: If you could do it all over again, what would you have done differently?

A: I don’t think I would have done anything differently. I very much enjoyed my year.
