iOS 7: Apple’s New Creation

Do you know what’s better than iOS 6? If you said iOS 7, you’re right!  iOS 7 was released to the public on September 18, 2013. It’s so outstanding, it persuades the Galaxy Incorporation workers to get it! Beat that, Galaxy! This new software provides a FaceTime app for the iPhone, new icons for the built-in applications, a different multitasking bar format, a new unlocking password number pad, new camera format, keyboard for specific apps, iTunes Radio, and a faster and easier way to do daily tasks. However, iOS 7 is not available on iPod 4th generation or less, iPad first generation, and iPhone 3GS or below.

The multitasking bar, instead of just showing the application, shows a preview of where you left off on the app you have left open. Also, instead of closing it by clicking the little ‘x’, you slide your finger through the screen upward and BOOM! The app is closed! “It’s so much better, so now my phone doesn’t freeze literally every time I try to empty out my multitasking bar. It was a pain doing so on iOS 6,” said junior John Medina.

“I really like iOS 7 on my iPhone 4s. My favorite feature must be the new shortcut that can be found in the lock screen when you slide your finger upward to put your phone on airplane mode, Wi-Fi settings, music, flashlight, etc. My least favorite change is the new version of the calendar. There’s not much to it, but I hope iOS 8 comes with more customization, a better camera operating system and more shortcuts,” said Ms. Armenteros.

The FaceTime app for the iPhone helps sorting out the difference between phone calls and FaceTime calls. It is really useful for the fact that you can video chat with other people with Apple products. By just clicking the application, you are presented with a newly redesigned software interface. The new FaceTime app for the iPhone makes it simpler than ever to communicate with the ones you love, near and far.

The new icons for built-in applications (messages, calendar, etc.) have changed compared to the iOS 6 icons. They have a new abstract and 3-D look to them, making the old apps seem dull. Although Apple gave the new “flat” look to their updated software, they came up with a contradicting, yet abstract feel by making apps move along with the movement of your phone. Making it look, sort of 3-D!

“I want to buy an iPhone myself just to have iOS 7, it looks so awesome. It’s the must-have and most talked about program of the school year so far. Funny thing is, this is just the start of the new version of Apple,” said freshman Samuel Alviarez.

iOS 7 has been the most downloaded software so far, massive enough to be able to “break” the internet. It has gone world-wide faster than a blink of an eye. You’ll regret not updating! All your friends have the new features and you’re indecisive? Try it out on their phone, trust me, you will be able to say you fell in love with your phone. Get your chargers and Wi-Fi ready, get set, UPDATE!
