On Tuesday March 3, the girls and boys water polo teams played tough matches against Coral Reef and Columbus. The girls played a great game coming out on top and beating Coral Reef 28-0, and the boys played a tough match against Columbus but in the end were defeated 15-20.

In the boys game, the team tried their hardest, but lost to Columbus in a landslide defeat. In one play, Gables was able to block a shot, and with the momentum, were able to go strong, attack the other team, and score an amazing shot. The boys gave it their all but were not able to defeat the Explorers.

“We wanted to give it everything we had and made it a close game, which we did,” junior Nick Restrepo said.

In the girls game, the team worked hard and was able to defeat the Barracudas. Reef went in strong and played a tough game, but in the end, failed at trying to score on Gables. The girls were able to prevail, and managed to not let Reef score.

“I think that the team as a whole can improve on making silly mistakes, and getting unnecessary fouls or exclusions as well as turnovers. The team is very strong on defense, but we need to work on our offensive tactics,” junior Alexandra Holian said.

Both teams will be continuing to practice, improving their skills. The boys and girls will be improving and hopefully, as the season progresses, end with a great finish.
