Einstein was Right: Theory Proven

Nicolas Schmidt, Staff Writer

In 1905, Albert Einstein published the now widely-known Theory of Relativity. In 2016, the last part of the theory that remained unproved was validated by a team of scientists from several different labs. These scientists were able to detect the gravitational waves that Einstein predicted years ago. This discovery might seem small but it is a big one that will go down in history.

“I think that it’s fantastic that Einstein is finally recognized for all of his work,” freshman Marco Barrios said.

The scientists were able to hear the sound gravitational waves created by the merging of two black holes. They were able to convert wave signals into sound waves a were thus able to listen to the gravitational waves. The sound was described by The New York Times as “a fleeting chirp” that “rose to the note middle C before abruptly stopping.” This sound will certainly be one of the greatest sounds to be remembered.

This discovery is a huge step for the scientific community that has finally proven what Einstein said over 100 years ago. Scientists are now saying that this breakthrough is at the same level as the 2012 Eureka! moment of the Higgs Boson Particle.

“I think that this discovery is great but that scientists should keep trying to prove him right or wrong,” freshman Kevin Alvarez said.

The discovery that has been made by these scientists landed them a place in history. They have proved that what Einstein said in his Theory of Relativity in 1905 was right. The scientists were able to “listen” to gravity by using state-of-the-art microphones. However, even if Einstein has been proven right, scientists will never stop trying to discover new innovations and ideas.
