About the Contributors

Marina Astorga, CavsConnect Co-Editor-in-Chief
As a junior in the International Baccalaureate program, Marina Astorga is excited to come back to CavsConnect for her third year. As this year’s Co-Editor-in-Chief, she hopes to learn to manage the ins and outs of the publication while inspiring staff members to pursue their passion with her help. Leading CavsConnect has been one of the most memorable parts of her high school journey and she hopes to take the publication to new lengths. Outside of school, Marina loves to experiment with new recipes for both cooking and baking, reading classical and thriller novels and watching movies with her friends. She is always down to get ice cream and try new flavors until she finds her all-time favorite. Hoping to manage both her academic and social life in a satisfying balance, Marina looks forward to a successful junior year.

Angelina Morffi, CavsConnect Co-Editor-in-Chief
As she approaches her fourth year at Gables, Angelina Morffi is determined to save the best for last. Juggling many responsibilities, she is proudly CavsConnect's Editor-in-Chief, Academy of Finance's President, Future Business Leaders of America's Vice-President (Marketing), Student Council Treasurer and lastly Health Information Project Peer Health Educator. Spotted at every field trip, every pep rally and every game under the Friday night lights, she bleeds crimson and gray.
Outside of school, she works as a camp counselor during the after school and summer program at West End Park, the same camp she attended as a young girl. Teaching eight-year-olds simple mathematics and tying every loose shoe lace, Angie treasures their silly jokes and do-it-yourself stationaries.
Despite her busy schedule, Angie always has time for nice dinners at the Grove, drives through the Rickenbacker Causeway, and ice cream trips to Chill-N.
Though her future is uncertain, Angie knows her passion lies in serving and uplifting others. Hoping to study communications then go to law school, Angie has big dreams, ones that she cannot share just up until the moment in which they happen. It is the same principle in sharing your wish after blowing out a candle. How can it come true after that? Regardless of what may happen, whether blowing out the candles worked, she will always carry determination and love with her on every adventure.
