The Gablettes’ annual spring showcase, Gablette’s Revue, was the perfect end to their dance season. The show kicked off with the seniors dancing to a medley of songs from the Cheetah Girls. The audience went wild as students were able to reminisce their childhood and their favorite movies with this timeless soundtrack.

“It was really fun watching the seniors perform their last dances. We worked really hard the past couple months and I think we put on a great show,” junior Savannah Payne said.

The show continued with performances from the juniors, sophomores, officers, and freshmen. Mixed in were special guest performances from various dance classes. The dance classes spent weeks practicing their performances in class and their hard work definitely paid off. This year, there were many guest performances with a unique choreographies or a message about society. Possibly the most sentimental routine from the dance classes was a choreography by four students where the dancers wore an “X” on their mouths to symbolize oppression women feel. The dance classes also performed a step routine- reminiscent of performances by Gables’ step team: Sista’s with Attitude (SWA).

Color guard also performed and left the audience speechless with their graceful movements and expert use of flags. Two members from the team performed an emotional duet that showcased the extensive range of skills that the team has. The last guest performance was performed by Gables Bhangra, which featured a mix of a traditional Bhangra routine and Bollywood Fusion.

“I feel like Gablette’s Revue is the show where every student has the time to shine, forming unity amongst everyone in the auditorium,” sophomore Karina Wu said.

The Gablettes surprised audience with their talent  as they performed award winning routines that placed first in their national competition. As the show came to an end, it became more sentimental as the captain, Melissa Rodriguez, gave her speech thanking her members and coaches. The show closed with the senior Gablettes walking down the auditorium’s aisles in their graduation gowns-showcasing what college they will be attending in the fall. They then performed a dance representing highlights from their Gablette career, ending the show with a sense of nostalgia.

The 41st annual Gablette’s Revue has been their best one yet and left the audience excited for performances in years to come. The team works hard to improve their skill and technique every year, and they never disappoint with their expert moves.
