Track 1: BAILE INoLVIDABLE
Rating: A+
In his third track, Bad Bunny delves into salsa rhythms, paying homage to Puerto Rico’s rich musical heritage. The song, which combines love, sorrow and nostalgia into a narrative that is both intensely personal and widely relatable, tells the tale of a man who can never forget the woman who taught him to dance. The repeated phrase, “Tú me enseñaste a querer, me enseñaste a bailar” captures the duality of a relationship that was both joyful and transformational yet is now a memory.
This song is particularly significant as an illustration of Bad Bunny’s developing artistic abilities, showcasing his dedication to experimenting with new genres while remaining loyal to his cultural heritage. Audiences in Puerto Rico and elsewhere have responded well to this intensely emotional song.
“BAILE INoLVIDABLE was for sure my favorite song on this album. Every time I listen to this song it reminds me of all the good times I had when I was with someone who was very special to me. The song never fails to make reminisce on the past,” senior Demin Munguia said.
Track 6: VeLDÁ
Rating: B-
“VeLDÁ” explores the complex nature of modern relationships, cultural observations and introspection. Bad Bunny focuses on the delicate nature of human connections in the modern world through his trademark fusion of reggaeton beats and reflective lyrics. The storyline of the song creatively discusses the difficulties of remaining true to oneself in the face of other influences and the pursuit of genuine intimacy.
Collaborations with Omar Courtz and Dei V, two Puerto Rican artists, give this song a lively fusion that heightens its allure. The lyrics of the song capture the essence of late-night adventures and the bittersweet appeal of impermanence by fusing rhythmic hooks with vivid imagery. The narrative balances between longing and detachment, reflecting the fleeting yet impactful connections that often define relationships in fast-paced social settings.
“This album was absolutely amazing; every single thing about it was so perfect to me. Every feature from Omar Courtz to Dei V added so much life to each track. I really liked how Bad Bunny focuses on several different emotions and points of view when it comes to relationships. The songs on the album are all extremely relatable and I just loved everything about it,” freshman Matt Garcia said.
Track 7: EL CLúB
Rating: A
Bad Bunny’s seventh track, “EL CLúB” blends reggaetón, techno, salsa and plena to produce a rich auditory experience as it explores themes of heartbreak, resentment and personal growth. With phrases that imply a contemplation of previous relationships and personal development, “EL CLúB” has a reflective and yearning tone. The lyrics “2020 la última vez que yo fui feliz, 2022 la última vez que yo te vi” depicts a past of emotional experiences that allows listeners to really connect with the artist.
Bad Bunny’s perspective on new relationships is impacted by this incapacity to move on. He describes the challenge of truly connecting with people while he is still emotionally attached to them because they can be compared to the person he lost. The song expresses the frustration of wanting to heal but not being able to do so because every new experience seems to lack the emotional depth of the previous one. Anyone who has had trouble letting go of a meaningful relationship can relate to this song, which perfectly captures the anguish of being in emotional limbo.
“This album came very close to being as good and touching as “Un Verano Sin Ti”. I really enjoyed the fusion of different latin beats and genres. I would have to say my favorite song from the album has to be “El Club”; I personally find it super relatable. It talks about how difficult it is finding and enjoying new experiences while still being stuck on the past. Bad Bunny did a wonderful job on this new album,” junior Javier Ruche said.
From the personal tales to the creative partnerships, it is evident that Bad Bunny is not scared to take chances and this pays off. In addition to enjoying the beats, this project encourages listeners to consider the stories and feelings that inspire them. Bad Bunny reinforces his position as an artist who is proud to show his soul while representing his people on a worldwide scale as he keeps pushing limits.
