Waking up at the 6:30 a.m. is tiring enough and even worse when your body is lacking nutrients to last you throughout the day. Unfortunately, it is hard to make a big breakfast on rushed school mornings. Starting off your day with a healthy breakfast does not need to be difficult or stressful. The following recipes for quick and nutritious breakfasts will make a typical school morning a little less hectic.

Banana and Almond Butter Toast: This quick and easy breakfast only takes minutes to prepare, but will also fill your cravings and supply you with essential nutrients.

  • Take whole grain bread and toast until golden.
  • Spread almond butter on toast.
  • Slice bananas and place them on the toast.

Note: Add a sprinkle of Chia Seeds for extra fiber.

“I’ve [had] this dish before and I love accompanying it with a glass of milk to wash it all down,” freshman Valeria Gutierrez said.

Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie: Easily indulge in this delicious, Vitamin C-loaded smoothie on a rushed morning.

  • Take 1 1/2 cup strawberries, 1 1/2 cup ice cubes, 1/4 cup of orange juice and 1/4 banana and place it all in a blender. Add vanilla for an extra kick.
  • Blend on high speed until mixture is frothy and there are no big chunks of ice.

Note: Citrus fruits can be used to replace strawberries.

“A smoothie is a quick and efficient way to get the calories you need,” biology teacher Mr. Molina said.

Mini Breakfast Pizza: This Italian-style breakfast is packed with protein to start your morning off right.

  • Heat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Coat large non-stick skillet with cooking spray and set to medium heat until hot.
  • Spread tomato sauce over muffins and place on a baking sheet. Top with egg and cheese, dividing everything evenly.
  • Bake in oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit until cheese is melted; this takes about five minutes.
  • Sprinkle with oregano.

“I recommend that you have all of your ingredients prepared beforehand just to make the process quicker,” freshman Kayla Ferra said.

It is crucial for students to arrive at school with a full stomach. These grab-and-go recipes will only facilitate that and allow them to learn more efficiently. Make sure to receive all of your essential nutrients for an especially productive day!
