Community Foundation Hosts Tour of Kitchens

On Feb. 8, Tour of the Kitchens, a community event in Coral Gables, took place in various luxury homes in the Gables. This event was hosted by the Coral Gables Community Foundation in hopes to raise funds for various scholarships they grant to Gables students, with tickets at $60 per attendee. The participating homes were on display and open for the public to tour. Restaurants were stationed at each of the locations to provide guests with delicacies while they participated in the event.

“Volunteering at Tour of Kitchens was a great experience, it was a lot of fun and I thought it was a great way to meet new people in the gables. I thought it was also a great way to get publicity for businesses such as Scavolini (the store I volunteered at) who donate a lot to the CGCF who support CGSH tremendously. It’s always an honor to volunteer for Mary and I thought this was a very successful event and am glad I could help,” sophomore Alyssa Lamadriz said.

The self-directed tour started bright and early at 10 a.m., with participating guests visiting homes around the Gables area and exploring their beautiful kitchens for inspiration and admiration. This gave the citizens of the Gables the opportunity to discover kitchens they never knew existed. The event came to an end as a closing ceremony was held at Ferguson Kitchen Bath until 4 p.m., where guests to enjoy delicious food with their company.

“Our annual Tour of Kitchens attracts nearly 500 guests and is a fabulous community gathering year after year. Proceeds support the Culinary Arts program at Coral Gables Senior High School. Over the past two years, we have awarded scholarships to 5 Culinary Arts students to attend Johnson & Wales University, the Culinary Institute at Miami-Dade College and Florida International University. We are so proud to support our local high school and its students in this special way!” Executive Director of Coral Gables Community Foundation, Mary Snow said.

Proceeds from the tickets purchased will benefit the Coral Gables Community Foundation’s Scholarship Fund and the Culinary Program at Gables. Don’t miss out on next year’s Tour of Kitchens!
