It helps students effectively work to pursue their interest and passions at a college that is right for them. Sophomore

  • Counselors are an excellent resource to discuss possible future careers and goals because their many years of experience with students offers a unique perspective on the process.
  • Another important part of the process is researching the requirements for each major. Work with your counselor to pinpoint what school courses to take and pass to fit those college subjects the best.
  • Take full advantage of the courses and internships offered at Gables that are related to your desired major.
  • Begin to research colleges early to have an idea of what you want for your future and what are the requirements for colleges you might be interested in.
  • Apply for higher positions in clubs and extracurricular activities.
  • Get facts about the costs of colleges and research basic financial aid if necessary.
  • Visit colleges that you are interested in and that have programs related to your future occupation.
  • Work on keeping up your GPA and start studying for the SAT.
  • Determine how much you need to save for college.

“Well, I believe college readiness is important because the earlier one can begin to get ready, the easier it is for them to choose and organize the classes/courses they would want to take in high school. For instance, they can see if they should take more AP or DE classes to help them save money for college and me more advanced.”
