The best way to spend the summer is by finding an activity that you truly love. However, summer can become tedious and the hours will seem to drag by if you do not use time wisely. Why not take on a new hobby this summer?

  • Lomography: Lomography is another word for analogue photography, i.e, photography using film. Even though it is much faster and cheaper to simply take pictures with a digital camera or with a phone, the feeling of being able to have a physical medium to work with is irreplaceable. When one learns how film works and how to achieve stunning effects with it, Lomography becomes a very interesting hobby. Using film gives photos “vintage” look, which cannot be replicated by an Instagram filter. The Lomography website not only sells analogue cameras and film but also has extensive guides on film photography that come handy.Click here!
  • Knitting: No, knitting is not only for grandmothers. In fact, knitting can become a therapeutic and relaxing activity-not to mention, productive! There are thousands of tutorials on YouTube and other websites that teach everything from basic knitting stitches to intricate patterns to make sweaters, hats and anything you can think of. You can purchase knitting needles and wool from Michaels or any other craft store in order to begin your knitting journey.
  • Yoga: It s key to take care of your body, so why not do it with yoga? Yoga combines different postures with meditation to promote spiritual health. The poses incorporated in yoga will help you build lean and strong muscles while keeping you mentally and physically relaxed. The only thing you need to do yoga is a mat, a quiet place and yourself! You can find plenty of online yoga lessons on YouTube, click here.
  • Cooking: What a better way to spend time than making food?! Whether you cook for yourself or for others it is an essential life skill that will always come in handy. The best way to learn how to cook is by experimenting. Look up recipes and give them your own twist! You can find delicious recipes here.
  • Computer Programming: Learning to program might not be a piece of cake, however, it is rewarding. Nowadays, it is productive to know how to program in order to make websites, apps or simply fix a computer! You can learn how to program by looking at online tutorials or simply buying yourself a programming book.

The list of existing hobbies is most likely infinite, and simply impossible to include them all. However, why not give one of these a try and make summer a productive time!
