Do you like clowns? Red balloons? Do you want to “float down here” with the rest of them? Over the years, the small town of Derry, Maine has experienced a loss of an unusually large amount of children. When six-year-old Georgie Denbrough is nowhere to be found, his older brother Bill recruits his three closest friends, Richie, Eddie, and Stanley, to help him go on a mission to find his little brother in the sewers. Shortly after, Ben, Beverly, and Mike join in on their shenanigans, and together they form the so-called “Losers Club.” The movie revolves around IT, who is also known as Pennywise, the dancing clown.

Throughout the entire movie, the teens are put through a series of trials while trying to uncover the reason behind all the missing children. One of the best parts of the movie is the way that the friendship is portrayed. The movie shows the friendship that the group of friends shared since the beginning, and how their connection and bond only grew stronger as the plot and conflict developed. The actors were very passionate and genuine towards playing their roles and portraying their characters to their fullest potential.

It is my favorite thriller movie I have ever seen. I would highly recommend watching it. The story plot was very chilling and engaged you in suspense and drama.

“IT” mostly takes place either in the eerie town of Derry or in the dark sewers, setting a frightening and mysterious mood. The movie was good because it kept you on your toes as it included drama throughout, and occasionally had a clown or creepy figure pop up out of nowhere and scare you. In the ending credits, the director suggests that there will be a sequel; the words “Chapter One” appear on the screen as the movie comes to an end. People begin asking questions such as what era the sequel will be set it, who will star in it, and what will happen.

“The movie to me was more creepy than scary. The clown would randomly pop up and that was the scary part. I find it really cool that the movie was remade,” freshman Catherine Pasternac said.

Overall, the movie was very well executed. This Stephen King adaptation of “IT” by Andres Muschietti stayed true to the first half of the novel. This is a horror movie you don’t want to miss.
