CavsConnect’s 2015 Summer Bucket List

Sophie Feinberg, Editor

After months of school and the stress of testing season, it’s hard to do anything over the summer besides sleep and watch Netflix all day. To help with this problem, it’s a good idea to create a summer bucket list! Whether it’s a checklist in your phone, on a piece of paper, or in an actual bucket, here are some cool ideas to add to your summer bucket list.

1. Go to the movies.

During school, weekends may have been crammed with studying or homework. With a freer schedule, head to the movies or catch up on the films you had to miss during the school year. Summer blockbusters include Jurassic World, Inside Out, Insidious 3, and Paper Towns. If you don’t like any movies that are showing, hold your own movie marathon of your favorites at home. 2. See your friends.

Getting together with friends can be harder during the school year, especially with those attending different schools; use the summer to catch up.

3. Read.

Sometimes it’s hard to read books you want to during the school year or any book besides summer reading. Make a list of books you’ve been wanting to read to help keep track of your literature to-do’s.

4. Document Life.

Summer montages on YouTube always make life look so much fun, especially those with Go Pro footage. Make your summer unforgettable by making your own video on the tings you do throughout the vacation months. If videos aren’t your forte, try scrapbooking, taking Polaroids, or journaling to keep track of all the things you do this summer. An empty canvas may motivate you to fill your summer with fun memories, especially if it’s your last summer before college.

5. Try something new.

Summer is the chance to do something you didn’t have time for during the school year. Take up a new hobby or try a new activity that you have been dying to do.

6. Take a trip.

Even if you don’t go very far, taking a trip is a great way to spend your summer and expand your horizons. Whether you stay in Florida, in the country, or go abroad, a trip is something fun to do.

7. Shop.

Head to the mall or shop from your bed now that you have more free time. It’s a perfect activity for a rainy summer day.

8. Relax and Organize.

Stacks of paper and piles of laundry may have overtaken your room. Use some of your free time to clean up your room. With a clear space you can relax and take a break from all the clutter accumulated during the school year; another great way to relax is by heading to Starbucks and grabbing a drink.

9. Get fit.

Summer is the perfect chance to get in shape. With more time to workout or eat clean, getting fit will be a bit easier than in the school year. Plus, you’ll lose the temptation of candy sales and late-night studying snacks.

10. Fun in the sun.

It wouldn’t be summer without a trip to the beach or the pool. Whether you just want to layout in the sun or be active, don’t forget sunscreen!

“For my birthday, I went with my best friend and my brother to see the sunrise at the beach! We woke up at 5:20 and drove to Key Biscayne and awaited the sunrise. And that was on my bucket list!” senior Maria Victoria Paredes said.

Make this summer unforgettable by making a list tailored to your interests. While summer is limited in time, you can have unlimited fun if you map out what you want to do.
